If you keep your accounts in Tally and want billing, stock and GST returns in one trade software, this page explains how the move to ValueSoft works. It is written for distributors, wholesalers, stockists and retailers, and for the accountants who look after their books.
What does "Tally to ValueSoft data transfer" mean?
People use the phrase for two different jobs. ValueSoft covers both:
| Job | What happens | Who does it |
|---|---|---|
| Moving in (once) | All your master data and your bills move from Tally into ValueSoft. | Our team, as part of free migration assistance |
| Sending to your CA (after the move) | ValueSoft exports accounting data to Tally, so your CA can keep working in Tally. | You, with the Tally export in ValueSoft |
What comes across from Tally?
Our team moves all master data, meaning the ledgers, parties and stock items your entries are built on, and your bills too. You do not type your ledger list or customer list again, and your past sales and purchases come with you.
Before the move, ask our team to confirm what will come across from your Tally data, for example which years of bills. Then you know exactly what to check afterwards.
Will my CA still get my data in Tally?
Yes. ValueSoft can export accounting data to Tally for your CA. Your accountant can also receive GSTR-1 in Excel, CSV or JSON, and any report, such as ledgers, outstanding or final accounts, in Excel or PDF. That way your CA can stay in Tally while your billing moves to ValueSoft. If you are the CA reading this, see ValueSoft for chartered accountants.

How do I prepare my Tally books for the switch?
Clean books are easier to check. Choose a cut-over date, such as the first day of a month or of a financial year, and finish this list in Tally first:
- Enter everything up to the cut-over date. All sales, purchases, receipts, payments and journal entries.
- Reconcile your bank. Make a list of cheques issued or received that have not cleared yet.
- Take a backup of your Tally data. Keep it on a separate drive as your safety copy.
- Trial balance as on the cut-over date. Print it or export it. This is the main figure you will match.
- Bill-wise outstanding. For customers and for suppliers.
- Closing stock. Item-wise quantity and value, and godown-wise if you use godowns.
- GST returns filed up to date. GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B for every month entered in Tally.
- Pending orders. Sale orders not yet billed and purchase orders not yet received.
- Bill design and numbering. A printed sample of your bill, the printer you use, and the bill series and next number you will start with in ValueSoft, so that no number repeats.
How do I check my books after the move?
Work from the top down: big totals first, then a few entries one by one.
- Trial balance. Total debit and total credit, and each group total, should match the Tally trial balance for the cut-over date.
- Key ledgers. Cash, bank, capital, loans and the GST ledgers.
- Outstanding. Total receivable, total payable, and your largest parties bill by bill.
- Opening stock. Quantity and value should match your closing stock in Tally.
- Old bills. Open a few bills from different months and compare them with Tally.
- Item tax details. The GST rate and HSN code on each item should be the ones you use today.
- First Tally export. Send your CA a first export from ValueSoft and ask them to confirm it suits their work.
What will feel different in ValueSoft?
In ValueSoft, the bill is where most entries start. When you make a sale or purchase bill, stock and the party ledger update together, because invoicing, accounting and inventory stay in sync. GST sits in separate input and output ledgers, and tax clubbing clubs the month's input and output tax and passes the GST payable entry for you.
The accounts you already know
Payment, receipt, journal and contra vouchers; ledgers and group ledgers; cash book, bank book and bank reconciliation; trial balance, trading and P&L account and balance sheet. You can print cheques, set credit limits and credit days for customers, and handle TDS and TCS.
Trade tools on the bill
Stock is kept batch-wise with MRP and expiry, and godown-wise. Supplier invoices can be imported from CSV, Excel or PDF with a one-time mapping per supplier. Pharma businesses get PTS and PTR (price to stockist and price to retailer) worked out from the margin, and discounts can be set item-wise, party-wise or company-wise.
GST returns from the same data
File GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B from the software, or export GSTR-1 in Excel, CSV or JSON. Reconcile GSTR-2A and GSTR-2B with purchases for one or many months, so you see ITC (input tax credit) mismatches before you file. An internal audit checks your data and suppliers' GSTINs, and you can manage all your GST registrations in one place.
E-invoice and e-way bill
Both are made from the bill in one click, and the IRN and QR code print on the invoice. For e-invoice, you create an API user for ValueSoft on the e-invoice portal; the e-Invoice registration guide shows each step.
Your books on your phone
The eOwner app shows ledgers, outstanding, sales, purchase and stock, and shares bills and ledgers on WhatsApp as PDF. It exchanges data with ValueSoft through Kala Softech's server.

Which plan suits a business moving from Tally?
Because you are bringing your books across, pick a plan that includes accounting. Mini, Lite, Plus and Max all include accounting entry, outstanding reports, cash book, trial balance, P&L and GST reports. Basic gives unlimited billing but leaves out GST and accounting, so it does not suit a move from Tally. The four plans differ mainly in monthly billing: Mini up to ₹2.5 lakh and 450 bills, Lite up to ₹5 lakh and 600 bills, Plus up to ₹7.5 lakh and 800 bills, and Max with no limit. All are one-time prices with GST included. Updates and support are free for the first year; from the second year there is a yearly AMC (annual maintenance charge) of ₹3,500 per user.
